With friends continuing to distribute themselves around the world I find myself wanting to resurrect my blog. I can't really use "C by the Sea" any more since I see no sea within my sight so instead of titling my blog "C in the Sea of Red" (is that even a good Flames reference?) I've gone back to a semi-old screen name: Anacrusis. "Begin at the anacrusis please" was a phrase I loved to hear from one of my university conductors. It just seemed so scholarly. I knew I had arrived as a musician because I learned a fancy word (that they never used in high school) for "pickup". Ah yes, begin at the unstressed pickup please. I of course had to lean over to an older and wiser flutist to inquire as to what Dr. Brown was referring to. With a point of her flute at the music it was understood and I was all the wiser.
This will pretty much be a blog of ramblings on the vast subject of music. Have you ever thought about what the word music even represents? I can barely wrap my mind about what all the word actually refers to. What does it even mean to be a music teacher? I don't think I could ever claim to be able to teach music. Maybe a band teacher or choir teacher but I could only really claim to conduct those classes because I still feel like a student of the subject.
I have so much to learn and so much to research... and yet so much to look forward to. I love music and I love mostly all that it does to our world. Music is powerful and music speaks louder then any words. It is an amazing gift from our Heavenly Father and I thank Him so much for it.
Anacrusis will log my journey as a music learner, an unstressed learner who enjoys her pickups (coffee that is). It may also log my journeys as a student of this world... as I dream of great explorations across land and ocean.
